Andreas Kaede is a German lawyer with an office in Gerlingen near Stuttgart. Born in 1956, he studied law in Bonn and passed his exams ("Staatsexamen") in 1982 and 1985. After having worked as an assistant at the institutes for international law at the universities of Bonn and Kiel he started his career as an in-house lawyer with a multinational corporation based in Stuttgart. He spent the next 27 years working mostly in the field of intellectual property (IP), focusing on drafting, negotiation and enforcement of contracts such as licenses, technical co-operation and M&A agreements, including related strategic consulting.
Since 2008 and until his retirement in 2015, Andreas Kaede served as head of the licensing department of the corporation, with worldwide responsibilities for the IP contract business of the group.
Since then Andreas Kaede has been running his law firm in an open co-operation with the renowned Stuttgart based law firm of Haver & Mailänder Rechtsanwälte Partnerschaft mbB which also is represented in Brussels, Dresden and Frankfurt/M. Haver & Mailaender's activitites inter alia comprise the fields of Trade Law, Business Law, Arbitration, M&A as well as IP.
Andreas Kaede's field of work covers all aspects of IP contracts including corresponding strategic consulting, as well as matters related to the Law of the Sea, especially in the area of Deep Sea Mining.
Concerning the latter field with which he first got acquainted while working with the university institutes, he improved his knowledge over the past few years, aiming at supporting and consulting both public and private actors in coping with legal requirements resulting from industrial exploitation of mineral resources from deep sea levels, an activity still in its nascent phase.
Besides case-based consulting, he will be focusing on lectures and trainings on IP and Law of the Sea questions, as well as on topics in the field where both subject matters overlap.
Andreas Kaede is a member of the Stuttgart Bar Association, the Licensing Executives Society (LES) the German-American Lawyers' Association (DAJV) and the World Ocean Council (WOC).
